Plug-in solar panels with battery: UK rules

Kits with a built-in battery are outside the current UK plug-in solar framework. [solar.org.uk]

What this means

The rules that came into force on 27 August 2026 cover compliant plug-in kits of up to 800 W, listed on the ENA G98 Type Test Register. Battery-integrated kits and self-assembled kits aren't covered. [solar.org.uk] We'll only list kits shown on the Energy Networks Association register.

Without a battery, your home uses the power while the sun shines, so savings depend on daytime use (see are they worth it?).
